Pros
Being a merchandiser meant that you were on the road and kinda did your own thing, within reason. More often than not nobody was looking over your shoulder. In fact, it took me months to actually meet many of my bosses. It was a relatively easy job.
Kontras
You won't get mileage. There aren't many opportunities to move up within the company. I worked for several months without hearing of any openings. Some managers at places like Meijer and Kroger gives merchandisers a hard time when rarely you were at fault. You will also work alone most days, and some days will be long. 14 + hour days aren't unusual in the summer.
