Excellent free online training for basic utility information for the non-engineering staff. Great opportunity to get a foot in the utility industry door.

Nepotism is rampant. More often than not, it seems that management is selected less on qaulifications and more on who is who. Therefore, opportunities for advancement from within are limited. Network into a higher level position to get in the door. Human Resource Department is not an advocate for the reguar employee, but the hammer for management.
