Pros

You get some experience at a digital marketing firm, but it's not worth staying here longer than a couple of months. Leave as soon as possible.

Kontras

What I didn't like about Outerbox is that they under pay you a lot, specialist out here be making $35-$42k, can you believe it? And they are strict about measuring the amount of time it takes you to do certain tasks. Like they would say X task should take 2 or 3 hrs, but usually it would take more than that, and they would overload you with more work too. I worked on Saturdays just to keep up with the crazy workload my "40" hr work week was giving me. They have too many clients during certain seasons and if they lose any big clients, they start laying off specialists and team members. I'm certain they could have avoided that if management took some pay cuts, but in the end the higher ups are after profits, and they get this by underpaying employees, and firing them.

Seems to me like this salary range is not accurate unless you're coming in VERY junior and looking for a place to learn digital marketing. If you have SEO experience, we are definitely not paying this salary range. In regards to tasking taking longer than anticipated, that all comes down to communicating internally. If you need more time for a task it's important to talk with your manager to either 1) change the amount of time needed for a task. 2) get guidance on how to get a task done within that amount of time. Often this comes down to training. In regards to "we make money by firing employees" I can assure you this isn't true. Every time we let someone go we need to hire a new person to fill their spot. We're a growing company! What does this mean? It means we have to spend time interviewing for a replacement, training a new person, etc., meaning we actually burn more money when we have to let someone go. Our goal is to retain talent... that's how a company grows!

Pros

The lower level staff are amazing. Everyone cared about making sure the client got the best we could offer. The ability to work fully from home was also a great benefit. Additionally the benefits were very good.

Kontras

Upper management always felt disjointed and let to a lot of cross department disfunction. The only thing they seemed to care about was KPIs and buying more companies. The care for staff was always very low importance. A lot of people there are burnt out from the amount of work that is expected of you and the level of excellence that is expected only adds to the stress. The very much make it feel like the whole company rests on your shoulders. The pay is a joke as well. The raises are crap and sadly working in any role that’s not SEO or PPC is just looked at like a red headed step child. They show no real concern for the other departments especially if they aren’t money making factories like SEO and PPC are.
