Pros

Lots of experience in a condensed timeframe. Like all MSPs, you will see a variety of problems, many of which are caused or worsened by the poor practices implemented by ON. There’s a minimal amount of oversight and training, it’s a sink or swim mentality. How good is your Google-Fu? You’ll be exercising it here.

Kontras

Highly disorganized, more focus on CEO’s failed writing career than optimizing any networks. Depends too heavily on old technology being stretched beyond its limits. Reiterating the disorganization. Most data kept in proprietary databases, multiple failed efforts to modernize and migrate into a better platform. High turnover. During my six month tenure, 4 employees with seniority quit and another two were let go for disciplinary reasons. Essentially 2 or 3 primary staff know most of the operational knowledge. New people with find it hard to acclimate. More focus on company appearance, sales, presentations, corp image, etc. than actually delivering the services to clients. Pushes crap tech (Sonicwall) because it is more profitable than reliable tech (Meraki).

Pros

Some solid people there, Vice President of HR seems to actually care about the people there.

Kontras

Really went downhill within the last year, management preached that there would be no change with the Canyon Point Acquisition - that was until a mass number of employees lost there job. I wish optimal was back to its prior self, as it really did feel like a place I was proud to work at prior to the acquisition.
