Pros

Still some good people there that are just trying to hang on. Unfortunately, this desperation only fuels a "kill or be killed" mentality. Big hiring of folks in Level 1 for Lake Mary and Convergys and construction is in progress in India for the new 10-story NetApp building.

Kontras

The executive leadership is still trying to sell the "culture" proposition. The truth is that cDOT is a dud - it's way too complicated to use, (nowhere near as elegant as 7-mode was) and any commands you use to ascertain the status of a particular portion of your cluster will result in you getting some information that may/may not have some bearing on what you're trying to know about. There isn't really a cloud strategy unless you count being one of 500+ vendors for AWS. The whole "Data Fabric" marketing gee-whiz was assembled by people who don't really understand that IT folks already use the word "data fabric" for actual backend processes. A policy of mid and end of year shutdowns forces employees to take vacation days, so even though you might be entitled to two weeks of vacation, that winds up being 8 days. Healthcare has gradually been diminishing over time with the push from HR towards HSAs and limiting the choice of pharmacy providers (this year its CVS). Bonuses were minimal last year, there were no raises, and no RSUs issued. They even cancelled the Xmas party. It's all downhill from here.

Pros

Amongst the top companies in the data storage industry = company stability.

Kontras

If you'd ask me a year or 2 ago, I would have given the company 5 stars. But, as with most tech companies now, they've started to follow the trend of return to office, regardless of logic. There's little to no room for exceptions and the company would rather sacrifice productivity regardless if they know the hardships for people living in metros (one way commute to the NY or SJC office can take 2 hours one way!) - that and there's no commuter benefits. You have to pay out of pocket and live in fear of not receiving your bonus if you miss the "thrive together" quarterly requirements.
