Pros

Early on there were some top talent and the opportunity to learn and progress quickly. Work environment is fairly flexible. Compensation was better than average with decent bonuses during the early years of the company.

Kontras

Owners definitely play favorites with staff. If you fall out of favor with them for any reason, it will be career limiting. No strategy behind company's growth. A lot of questionable work was sold on the back of some great work done in the early days. As brand became recognized and demand increased, company hired a lot of new staff members, many who were severely under qualified to do the work. This had a cascading effect through the company, eventually leading to projects going south and a huge exodus of many of the best people.

Pros

The work was plentiful, but hectic. Some Managers were great, others could use training. Benefits were great, PTO was more than you normally would see and as long as you got your work done, you were ok.

Kontras

Hours could be long into the evenings and weekends.

Pros

NavigationArts is a fast paced, driven, value minded consultancy. As a consultancy it faces the same feast or famine landscape that any other mid-size firm encounters, but it does so with an eye towards picking great clients and finding even better team members. Having worked at NavigationArts for years, I’ve seen what a challenging environment it can be. Yes, it is hard work. Anyone who has ever worked at a consultancy worth its salt knows that consulting means longer hours, hard deadlines, and the reality of working a business solution through a creative and technical process. However, with challenge come rewards; NavigationArts has a Grade-A client list, amazing talent, and a vision firmly planted in the roots of its rich history in user experience. Over the last decade, the firm has evolved, maturing its client delivery techniques, but also internally become the business that drives a culture of success and professional collaboration.

Kontras

With the hard work and dedicated talent, often egos arise. It's tempting to give in to need to be right, but staying above the fray works best. At a mid-size firm, gossip is bound to happen. It's no different at NavArts but for the most part its normal office politics.
