You'll quickly understand after joining here why the reviews are polarized between glowing and tragic. Sadly I didn't pay attention to the heavily upvoted critical reviews, as these are the general voices of middle management and first line employees.
Your experience at Moncel will be heavily dictated by whether or not you have a buffer between yourself, Dani and Stu. Working directly for the owners of any company can be a harrowing experience and this is no different. Micromanagement and being belittled in front of your peers is not uncommon. You drink the cool-aide or you're ostracized and out of the company. Being able to protect your roles and responsibilities is impossible, you just have to accept that these new roles and responsibilities, regardless of past education or experience. If you cannot meet your previously agreed upon roles and responsibilities, well then you're a bad employee and this is on you. I've seen SEO, PMs and software developers being charged with reviewing and editing course content, QA on the website, hiring, taking client calls, filling out government applications and managing employees. If something is missed, especially in reviewing educational content, it's heavily criticized, even though you're not an expert and it's not your job. This leads to a lot of infighting and pointing of fingers at one another. More than one employee has had a complete breakdown and they've had to and are dealing with the legal ramifications of this.
