Pros

OK pay- not good - just OK if you know how to negotiate for it, great benefits, good co-workers. 12 hour shifts mean nice long weekends.

Kontras

Certain managers are oppressive, vindictive liars who engineer employee failure to make themselves look better. Rotating night/day shifts are very hard on employee morale and production efficiency. Micron likes to make low-ball offers to new prospective hires from outside the local area, claiming that 'Idaho cost of living is really low', which was a total fabrication, so be sure to compare your area's cost of living index against Boise's when considering a position here. For the past several years, Micron has been seeking to reduce costs by getting rid of experienced technicians and hiring new, cheap techs instead. Really sucks if you're the experienced guy or gal, maybe getting close to retirement, and Micron throws you out the door to save themselves a few bucks. They also periodically declare 'financial emergencies' and require employees to work unpaid overtime to 'save the company'. Management encourages devious work practices to attempt to maximize short-term profits where they should be working to operate in an ethical, legal, and honest manner to ensure long-term growth and profitability.

Pros

Decent pay, great stock grants and stock purchase plan. You can be at the forefront of memory technology driving today's AI megaboom, and benefit from the high demand (i.e. soaring stock price).

Kontras

Little sense of community, lifeless office environment, dead-eyed and overworked employees. "Flexible work arrangements" in name only, as recent policy changes have significantly reduced effectiveness especially if you have a long commute or family life. Too much emphasis on unimportant buzz such as embracing diversity and inclusion is just annoying, but par for the course in today's big tech industry.
