Pros

There is none at this moment.

Kontras

I have never worked for more of a disorganized mess. I am honestly very sad that I was told “we have a great culture” and having to sell that to all my candidates when I don’t believe in it at all. I’m sure each department has their own “culture” but not mine. All the recruiters in the team are amazing. We work well together and we do the best for our candidates. The issue is management. They came in thinking they knew best without asking questions. The entire recruiting team has only centralized about a year or two ago, so we are all new. The managers started less than a year ago. If we all decided to leave tomorrow, I am confident that none of these managers will know how to do anything. They don’t take time to learn our processes or software. There has been many times where they would ASSUME a process and get mad at us when they realize that’s not how we’ve been doing things. My issue is that if we are not doing something right, we need to be taught the correct way. That’s not the case. We don’t receive training. Everyone does everything differently. We are always unsure of what we’re doing is right. Instead of listening to us, they choose to ignore the issue. None of us ever goes to the managers for help or advice because we know they don’t know how to answer. They are always in “meetings” and never respond to emails. If you ever need anything from them, you’re lucky if you get a response within 2 weeks, or even at all. We once brought an issue up to management because no one knew we were supposed to do it a certain way, and instead of helping figure out how to move forward, we were penalized. We are constantly trying to “prove ourselves” to other departments and we always have fingers pointed at us. We are told to document everything in case someone tries to blame us for something. Meetings get scheduled last minute and meetings get cancelled last minute all the time. I wish senior leadership would check in with the team because no one will speak up or say anything unless asked. Another issue is our pay. We are no where near competitive with the other health systems. Our internals get paid way less than they should be and because of that, we can’t offer new people a competitive rate. This has been a constant issue and makes it difficult to find and retain top talent. Our onboarding is not great. They will verify all your employment and if you, for any reason, can’t get it verified, your pay rate will decrease because we pay based on years of experience. There have been many times where we had to retract an offer because we weren’t able to verify someone’s employment. I have also rescinded offers for the dumbest reasons. They don’t care about your life or what you’re going through. Sometimes we would have to rescind an offer a week or a few days before someone starts. They are also not accommodating at all to our new hires. If a new hire is going through something or if something comes up out of their control, then that’s that. The recruiters try hard to advocate for our new hires but we get shut down almost all the time. We are always told to have a “good candidate experience” but we have to bend backwards just to do that. It doesn’t matter if anyone has recruited for 1, 10, or 50 years, new things come up all the time. Coming in and thinking you know it all because you have done it in the past, doesn’t mean anything. You should be open minded and understand that every company is different. Take is as a learning opportunity. If one of your employees tells you something. Instead of acting like that would never happen because YOU have never experienced it, you should listen and learn. Just because you’re a manager doesn’t mean you know it all.
