Pros
I worked for Mercy OKC for almost a decade as a lab assistant and registered nurse. My coworkers and patients were the best.
Kontras
I quit my full time nursing job at Mercy in order to continue my education. I was needing a summer job, so I applied for a position in OPD. One business day after applying, I was given an interview which I scheduled for one week later. Prior to my interview I ensured that the manager knew my position would only be for the summer, as I had to go back to school in the fall. Again, in the interview I made sure that the manager knew that I would only be able to work for the summer. She said it was going to work out perfectly because while I was working she would be able to train other new employees and she offered me the job at the end of the interview. Afterwards, I was given a tour of the department. Two days later, I received a call from HR offering me the job. We discussed both pay rate and scheduling, however she said she would have to further discuss scheduling with the manager. Three hours later I received a second phone call from HR and they rescinded the job offer. They had decided that because I had to do Mercy orientation (which lasted ONE day), nursing orientation (which they didn't know how long that would last...one day? One week?), and department training, that I wouldn't be able to work long enough before having to return to school. While I understand their side of it, nothing on my end had changed between my interview and that second phone call. Why was I offered the job...twice...and then it taken from me.
