Pros

- Many opportunities to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge - Flexible work schedule - Work with many smart, driven people who are truly committed to helping clients succeed - Ability to work on a variety of projects and clients - You drive your own career development and can get support from your supervisor (at lower levels)

Kontras

- Top management very disconnected from the "front line" who does the work - Confusing, convoluted corporate structure - No reward or recognition program. Don't expect anything more than a "good work" and a pat on the back - Unclear how pay is determined - The stated respect for work-life balance can be difficult to achieve in real-life unless you draw hard boundaries with team mates and/or risk looking like a "slacker" - Like many large companies, your experience at Mercer is based on who you work for and what office you are in - There is a clique system and good old boys network in play at some offices. If you aren't "in" then expect to have to go to another firm to advance in your career

Pros

-Trustworthy immediate colleagues -Good work/life balance and flexibility

Kontras

-Little career pathing within company. Organization is extremely siloed, and cheap as they simply aren't interested in paying for small things to advance one's career like local industry conferences and events such as team holiday dinners that would have minimal impact on the company's bottom line. -Pay not aligned with skills or talent marketplace -One would think a benefits/career consultant would have decent pay and benefits. This is not the case
