Pros

Great work experience. Working in yard and all the lifting keeps you in shape. Most people you work with are pleasant, including team leaders and store managers. (all the items listed in the cons section are determined higher up, and store management has zero control over them--they are just robots.)

Kontras

Very low pay-all stock people make same lousy wage (barely over minimum wage), regardless of work ethic or department. Outside team members routinely lift heavier objects with more frequency than associates in store. Outside team members must work out in all elements (extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, wet, etc.) but the only weather appropriate clothing they can wear, such as jackets, hats, gloves, etc, must have Menard's logo on them, and employees must buy all their own at full cost. It even takes weeks and over a month sometimes to get things that you order. Work schedule is 6 days a week, including every holiday except Easter (normal Sunday off anyway) and Christmas. Training is lackluster. Absolutely no hands on training. You are given a video to watch or PDF file to read, then answer questions on a worksheet. Much doesn't even pertain to your particular jobs. Other than that, you are pointed in a direction and told to work. Maybe you do it right, maybe not. Questions many times bring answers with poor attitude--like you should know the answer. Constantly re-working other people's work because no one is sure on how to do it or it is not explained-only told that it has been done wrong. Many times work is simply busy work.

Pros

A few of the people are nice to work with.

Kontras

A store manager who talks down to employees like they're children (and apparently gets promoted for it). A store manager who acts like employees are idiots for calling him to ask questions. Raises are pathetic. Understaffed because the store manager won't allow enough labor hours to do the job, particularly on Sundays when there's a lot of freight.
