To be employed during covid19

people of color are seldom hired, rarely or never promoted, I've witnessed calendars of ethic families removed from desks which caused a rep of over 5 yrs to quite. Massive amount of ("Green lighting abuse by management) most likely due the fact that as long as you're NOT ethnic there is no punishment for your actions at this co.. many people here do not value laws or basic human and civil rights.. working for a large media source with these types of issues is why our communities are so confused about what they read in the media...

Awesome Managers that are hands on and always ready to help you succeed. Great family hours. No weekends. No late nights. Great atmosphere. Very caring co workers. Feels like family.

Pros

This company has an outstanding mission of serving libraries, schools, and literacy through magazines and events, and most of the wonderful people who work there are 100% behind this mission.

Toward the end of the time I was there, the management team seemed more concerned about keeping the investors happy than in upholding that mission. Which I can understand from a practical standpoint. Their butts were on the line. But when this kind of motivation becomes too transparent, it can hurt the overall morale of the business and even, in some cases, create a toxic culture. From what I understand, though, the worst of that management team has moved on, so it may be a much different place to work now.
