Pros
Due to high employee turnover, MathCo is actually hiring. Furthermore, as their business model relies on hiring recent grads and overworking them for cheap until they quit, it is not uncommon for them to hire students straight out of college. If you cannot find employment anywhere else, MathCo is better than nothing if you want to build up a resume and get hired at a real company. The work is not very difficult. Despite being advertised as data science / analytics, 95% of the time you will be making a custom dashboard either in Tableau, or MathCo's in-house Python/SQL wrapper called NucliOS. Try to avoid being put on that 5% that actually requires analytics, the delivery team and leadership have lost most of the employees that can lead a project that is more difficult than a linear regression.
Kontras
After several rounds of layoffs and an additional layoff disguised as a return to office, most of the experienced people who are not upper management have left the company. Most of the remaining workers are new grads, and the few experienced people who are left are stretched so thin that their output is very diminished. People are quitting due to burnout and job insecurity, and many of the remaining workers are inexperienced or otherwise cannot find another job due to personality or work quality. Leadership says they cannot get rid of the poor quality workers because we are already short-staffed due to people quitting. In short, if you are fresh, energetic and/or talented, be prepared to work extra to cover for your coworkers. No, you will not receive recognition or compensation for this.
