Reporting to multiple managers often creates conflicting priorities, leading to task overload and inefficiencies. Frequent changes in direction result in repeated rework, with little clarity or alignment even for larger initiatives due to the lack of structured communication or meetings. Performance is often “rewarded” with more work instead of recognition—high performers are given additional responsibilities, including tasks outside their job scope, and are expected to support other departments regardless of relevance to their role. This creates an unsustainable workload and dilutes focus.
