Pros

Salaried employees are the only ones being paid a living wage

Kontras

There are no systems in place to hold corporate accountable for what they do wrong or need to fix. Stores will be penalized for the company’s mistakes. Employees are not paid a living wage and the company has openly admitted to managers that they will never pay a living wage. You’ll be asked to routinely work ten to twelve hour shifts. You’ll have no life except when you’re on PTO, and even then your district managers will expect you to be working for the good of your store. Make no mistake, there is no work life balance and there never will be. They care about converting customers to cardholders more than they care about sales. Product quality continuously declines while prices continue to rise.

Pros

Good full-time benefits, flexible scheduling. But the cons are starting to outweigh the good.

Kontras

A new store manager took over the Massapequa Park location (Long Island, NY) and the workplace culture has become highly challenging since. Her management style is overly critical, and she makes harsh, rapid judgments without taking the time to know her associates or understand their roles. Furthermore, she does not lead by example, and she sets unrealistic expectations without providing regular check-ins or continuous coaching. This has left the staff feeling unsupported and neglected. There is also a strong perception that loyal employees hours are being unfairly cut or even terminated to reduce store costs rather than supporting the well-being and retention of the staff.
