Pros

- The clients who we serve are some really wonderful people, seeing them grow despite limited resources and the non stop red tape and bureaucracy was definitely rewarding - Some of the employees, mostly the DSP's and the non salaried workers are very knowledgeable about the participants and passionate about helping others and making a difference

Kontras

It took me a long to time to put into words how I felt about my experience working with Job Path but I can say it is by far the most unhealthy work place I have ever had and after seven years of working in disability services, it took two years or working here to never want to go back. Let's start from the top - The CEO, Carly Is incompetent, out of touch and petty. While collecting a six figure salary she almost was never in the office, didn't even live in the city where we worked, constantly made horrible personnel decisions, played favorites, took credit for lower level employees accomplishments and was generally rude to anyone who did not agree with her. Sadly this is indicative of upper management who would constantly do things such as: sending participants and field employees to to work in the city while subways are flooded. Of course they stayed home and left getting people home safely to mid and lower level staff. Giving bogus right ups and performance improvement plans to employees who they didn't like and in verbatim "Wanted to get rid of because they were F- ups". Threatening hours and job securities of people who spoke up but also of people who abided by the companies supposed mission statement but ruffled the feathers of higher ups and/or parents of participants with money. - HR could hardly be called HR, there were two people who generally had no idea what they were doing and could not be trusted. They would put on an air of empathy but will do nothing to protect you from upper management. - The pay is low, obviously but more than that, upper management plays by a different set of rules, showing up whenever on mandatory office days, going months if not years without ever seeing any participants, and while they make a lot more than you, they will be callous toward the people being over worked and underpaid (my favorite was when I was told the best way to afford to live in New York is to get another job) - Boundaries dont exist, yes you have work phones but staff, parents, and management will call you and text you on your personal phone at all hours. Parents, especially the wealthier parents will act like an additional boss, regularly interrupting your free time, to emotionally dump on you - broken promises. Upper management often will say they are committed to change but will change nothing. All in all, it is a toxic place to work, full of favoritism and pettiness where you will be worked to the bone, underpaid and given almost no support or resources and then considered a troublemaker for speaking out about it. There don't truly care about changing the lives of their participants for the better (like when they fired someone for going by the missions statement in defiance of the participants parents) they only care about patting themselves on the back and making themselves look good on the backs of other peoples work
