Pay and benefits. But then, that is the only way this company can attract and retain anyone. Depending on the location, cool office work spaces OR NOT. Also depending on the location, cool coworkers and managers OR NOT.
Kontras
Extremely poor communication top-down and sideways. Arrogant attitude regarding new ideas. Very retro management philosophy. Inept HR people. Repeat INEPT HR people . Poorly-selected managers at the middle and senior management levels. Not a meritocracy but rather an old boys (and depending on the area: old girls) network. Very sad as they absorb smaller firms and smash their cultures to pieces while paying lip service to valuing them. I am all for progress and willingly acknowledge a superior entity, but in Jacobs case they go the other direction toward mediocrity.
