Pretty much everything else is a con. Engineers who want to take the managerial route become team leads in a couple of years without gaining sufficient knowledge or technical expertise. Naturally, that creates chaos because now that they are the “leads,” they push everyone below them to meet their forecasts in order to secure their own positions.
