IHC is biting the hand that feeds it (employees). Lowest morale in 20 years, and things are not looking up! - Mitarbeiter (anonym) bei Intermountain Health: Mitarbeiterbewertung

Pros

Excellent clinical and support staff. Good but expensive benefits.

Kontras

I have worked for IHC twice over the span of the last 20 years, for a total of about 12 years combined. When I left briefly to work for another company, I couldn't get back to IHC's stellar culture soon enough. My experience with IHC had been that they fostered growth in employees, good relationships between management and staff, and most importantly and freedom to allow practitioners to practice ethically, which with some health care companies, this idea gets drowned out as management pushes productivity and profits. While the IHC I came back to ~5 years ago was the same that I'd left, with the recent change of our CEO, the implementation of a very dated, poorly designed EMR and the complete destruction of the positive, honest culture IHC had espoused, this is NOT the company it used to be. This company has gone from such a high, to a terrifying low in regards to employee morale and sense of safety in their employment stability. While IHC touts leaning up the managerial structure, it seems now to be more top heavy than ever. The disconnect from the administration staff and the front line patient care providers has grown so deep, I feel there will be no bridging the chasm before IHC's reputation and future have been irreparably damaged. I cannot in good faith recommend this company to health care professionals, but I still recommend them for health care services provided by the company, as it is the frontline staff who still provide this, and love their work - despite a complete lack of support and common sense from above. Many have taken pay cuts (including me), with the comment that we need to save money, - all being said in the shadow of MORE brand new multi million dollar building projects. IHC may soon be left with a bunch of beautiful, empty buildings with no staff to run them.

Pros

There are many mission-driven caregivers who genuinely care about patients and want to provide high-quality behavioral health support. I appreciated the opportunity to work in an area connected to telehealth, crisis response, and access to care. The work itself can be meaningful, and I believe many employees are trying to do the right thing for patients and communities.

Kontras

In my experience, the department culture was not psychologically safe. Feedback and performance concerns were not handled in a way that was clear, consistent, or supportive. I left feeling that the performance process was more punitive than developmental, and I did not feel meaningfully supported by leadership or HR during a difficult employment transition. The experience affected my emotional well-being and made me much more cautious about workplace culture and management practices.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. At Intermountain Health, we’re always working to keep communication open and meaningful across all levels of the organization. We’ve built in several ways for caregivers and leaders to stay connected and share feedback, like 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins during onboarding, regular team huddles, and quarterly meetings. These touchpoints are designed to create space for real conversations and collaboration. Additionally, we believe that a culture of well-being for all caregivers is foundational to our ability to deliver on our mission of helping people live the healthiest lives possible. Caregivers are at the heart of what we do, which is why we have invested in and implemented several programs and resources to help caregivers enhance their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial health. It’s important that every caregiver feels secure, supported, and safe, both at home and at work. Your thoughts will be shared with our teams as we continue to learn and move forward together.
