Pros

- Opportunity to travel all over Germany - Staff events for socializing - Professional development workshops - Constant increase of pay after a certain number of projects - Train and bus transport to and from work projects is paid and sorted out by the company - You meet new people all the time, both kids and colleagues - You grow as a teacher as you teach a wide variety of topics

Kontras

- Most of the time you travel the day before a project and get back home late at the end of the project, so there isn't much time to rest if you have another project the next week. - Many teachers need a second job to make sure they can earn enough each month - Since you are a freelancer, you don't get pension or health insurance contribution from the employer - If you accept a project and later have to cancel, you might have to pay 300 Euro in penalties if they do not deem the reason as good enough. - The pay is not enough - Comapny is somewhat inconsistent - You are expected to take feedback from your students after every single project - You don't know how many projects you might get, so you never really know much money your take-home salary will be.

Pros

When I was hired, my previous experience applied to my starting wage. They use a pay rate that is scaled for experience.

Kontras

I was so excited to teach art and English to kids for this nonprofit! The advertisement with the job posting I responded to was targeted at English speakers living in the Czech Republic, and I talked about my life in Prague in the interview. After signing a contract and spending 8 hours on their website to prepare for the first of several onboarding sessions, I discovered that contracted teachers must have a German tax number which requires a German address. I emailed the person who interviewed me twice to ask about the requirement of a German address and tax number. Then I emailed two other people on their staff with this quesiton. No one replied. I simply stopped receiving the email blasts for teaching artists. And the one onboarding zoom session I attended was also awfully unprofessional. This was a huge disappointment and a huge waste of my time.
