Pros
InnovAge is a progressive company pushing the envelope to grow the PACE program nationally. The mission is an easy one to support, and the work being done in the centers is really inspiring. There are a lot of great people doing good things – nice people with who are making a difference in the care provided to the seniors in PACE. The CEO is visionary and forward-thinking when it comes to PACE and that aspect of the business, but she is not a strong leader when it comes to employees. She doesn’t mix with them, talk with them, or visit with them. She says she wants to hear what’s going on, but it’s not clear that’s always true.
Kontras
There are a lot of efforts to improve systems and processes, but it’s time-consuming and while growth brings a lot of change, not having the systems or processes (or staff) in place to support the growth brings a lot of stress and concern to the current workforce. The culture and environment are challenging, at least in the corporate office. It’s not a flat organization. There is little access to officers or the C-suite. Leaders aren’t invited to present or meet with officers to discuss what they are working on. Leaders feel disconnected from the overall direction of the company and there is often a feeling of needing to keep your head down and just get through the day. Innovation and creativity aren’t encouraged, rewarded, or recognized. Benefits are okay but the PTO is sub-par for the Denver market, especially for those with 20+ years of experience. More work and growth is assigned and expected, without an increase in staff support or other resources. Constant change can be managed, but it’s not communicated well. There’s little feeling of “team” outside of your peers in your department. There’s no discussion of career growth or development, and annual salary increases are below cost of living.
