I genuinely wanted to grow here, but 'career development' appeared to be more of a philosophical concept than an actual program. Workload increased steadily and significantly over my tenure. Compensation did not. Bonuses were discussed the way people discuss winning the lottery — theoretically possible, never actually witnessed. Meanwhile, health insurance premiums were aggressively priced, which felt like a bold choice for a company that specializes in health care. The most impressive organizational skill on display was leadership's ability to insulate itself from accountability. When results fell short, the feedback reliably traveled downward. When credit was due, the journey upward was remarkably swift. If you're early in your career and want to learn what not to do at scale, this is genuinely a valuable experience. Otherwise, know your worth before accepting an offer — and then ask for more.
