The compensation structure, like many large companies, is punishing to those who work their way up from the bottom. Your pay is based on the first role you had with the company. They give you small performance-based increases every 12 to 18 months. Even if you are promoted to another level, you will rarely receive more than a 10% increase. After five years with the company and three promotions, the only way to bring my compensation to a fair level would be to leave the company and come back. Doesn't seem like a good way to retain top talent.
