Pros
HRF is a great place to work if you want to meaningfully help and assist the bravest human rights activists in the world. No matter your job level, these programs and events and initiatives put you face to face, regularly, with these inspiring individuals. In the past decade the organization has grown significantly, with programs like the Oslo Freedom Forum, Flash Drives for Freedom, and various advocacy campaigns receiving worldwide acclaim. The organizational mission is no-nonsense: to challenge authoritarianism and help people who live under dictatorship.
Kontras
The organization is relatively small (approximately 25 people), which might be a downside for some. There is a lot of travel involved for some staff. The mission doesn't focus on American politics so that might also not work for some people whose passion is more local. Due to the nature of the organization's mission and hte relatively small staff size, there is a lot of work to be done, always, so it may be tough for some people to find the right work-life balance.
