During my time with freerateupdate a lot changed, and I was only there for about 4 months. I liked it when I started, everyone there was super nice and seemed to get along great, but everything went downhill fast. They are constantly changing the bonus structure so it gets harder and harder to get bonuses. You have to work through lunch and stay late just to hit minimum numbers. Management isn't much help, they don't give any guidance on how to improve, they just gave me the run around, basically saying they weren't sure why my numbers were low. They created a new room for employees that aren't able to go well above and beyond minimum requirements and stick them in there, it's basically a storage closet. I think it's a way to keep a person's numbers low so they can fire them, or the employee gets so fed up that they end up quitting. There was no clear reasoning on why the room would help you improve and it was very degrading to be stuffed in this room. While I knew what I was getting when I took a customer service job, I did not expect the disrespect I received from the managers. There is no room for advancement no matter how well you are doing or how long you've been there. Its impossible to take vacations or time off because you won't hit your monthly requirements and run the risk of being fired. Plus they get interviewees in the door with a phony job title only to say that those positions have been filled but they have customer service positions available. I would not recommend working here to anyone, it's a dead end job where you are constantly stressing about meeting monthly requirements and management is very disrespectful about it, offering little to no guidance to help you improve. If you are looking for a low stress job, look elsewhere!

Pros

The job was quite flexible. There was a lot of opportunities to step into different roles or create something new. A lot of learning, great place to start your career. Free breakfast in office.

Salary didn't necessarily keep up with evolving roles, long hours (9-6). Sometimes you may be expected to work later or hop on to put out a fire.
