Pros
Frame IO is a nice product to work on. It’s a tool for creatives. The company is filled with talented and fun people. It’s a small company so you get to work on a wide range of projects.
Kontras
Culture of Micromanagement: The biggest issue with Frame IO is the culture of micromanagement established by the CEO. Everything is scrutinized, over-designed, rewritten and often rescoped. Code is thrown away and most designs never see the light of day. This can throw off the entire morale of a team. The company is run much more like a post production company than a tech company. The company has gotten to where it is today by the CEO looking over people’s shoulder. The other senior leaders have good intentions, but it is often too little too late. Over Worked and Undervalued: Leaders give recognition and accolades to those that are over-work. Staying in late and working weekends are badges of honor. That wouldn’t be a huge issue if you sincerely wanted to work harder, but you’re often forced to work late to satisfy the CEOs fluctuating demands. Great place to work for Sales and Support: Since sales and support do not have much connection with building product, those teams are doing great. Most of my coworkers on those teams love it. There’s a lack of perspective from a lot of these Glassdoor reviews. Part of the reason I joined was because of how overly positive they were. But we’re asked to submit a review a few weeks after we start, so those often lack the full picture.
