Pros

Decent benefits and great coworkers outside of management. Organization is engaged in many impactful projects across Washington State including the Green Partnerships.

Kontras

The absence of racial diversity, prevalence of sexism, high turnover rate, and high employee dissatisfaction are the biggest cons of working at Forterra. Leadership is static and resistant to feedback, change, or growth and there is little to no opportunity for growth for most positions. There is also no culture of development, mentorship, or appreciation for staff outside of specific positions, personality types, or age and body types. Communication within the organization is poor, and the Board is either unaware of the experiences of non-executive staff or simply don’t care. The CEO can dazzle people with money well, so no attention is paid to the functioning of the organization or how it conducts itself. Effort has been made in hiring new executive leadership, but such positions are historically not empowered and only last a year or two. There is also no formal HR in the organization, making concerns, many which go back many years, go unrecorded, or if noted, ignored.

Pros

Flexibility in working from home, pay was decent, coworkers were phenomenal, management was friendly and supportive at first, good benefits

Kontras

total disregard for the welfare of their employees after a certain period of time working there, company culture felt like an actual cult (you either drink the koolaid or get ejected), upper management would throw employees under the bus to save themselves, employees often just "disappeared" without any explanation or acknowledgement, they literally lied on a grant application with the federal government and got caught, a large portion of the org has either resigned or been laid off in the last year which indicates the org may not survive (and frankly, it shouldn't) - honestly, the pros weren't worth it. You can find a better employer elsewhere.
