Pros

As a college student it is the most flexible, so long as you don't accept any promotions.

Kontras

This company lost the true meaning of what it stood for some years back. Demanding way too much out of their managers and staff with little to no compensation or rewards. Once you're in management you're restricted to what you can do with your personal life, often having to give up your needs as a human being since HQ doesn't care about the mental state of its work force. It is sad to see a company that thrived so much on family values, toss them away for corporate imagery.

Pros

Growing company. Fun culture. It can be exciting to be part of something new and innovative. Helping runners is great if you actually care about running, which I do. The owner is truly a kind hearted person who values his family and what he has built and I really believe in his vision. You have to believe in that to really stick it out. It has been a great job for me personally, meeting great people and learning some new things.

Because it's a growing company there can be whiplash with constant changing initiatives. Sometimes people who have been here a very long time and reside at the corporate office can become very disconnected from what goes on in stores. Promotions can be about politics or tenure as opposed to experience and there is a lack of transparency and communication issues that can create a feeling of resentment in the field. If they could increase transparency and communication and perhaps lead with fairness more consistently, this company's growing pains would be less difficult to deal with. There is no true growth path for high performers.
