Pros

First Collection provides a "family-like" atmosphere; and management are true professionals who go out of their way to make new employees feel comfortable. Both debt collectors and customer service divisions are on automatic dialers making VOIP calls--therefore employees must wear phone headset while starring into computer screen at all times--which is great when it makes time fly by. Management is understanding when it comes to missed time, & almost always willing to grant "make-up" hours. Another great incentive justifies the need for perfect attendance--which pays $100/pay period upfront--but also stacks another $100/mo. in a virtual bonus savings account that the company pays out a week or so before x-mas! I gained a tremendous amount of experience during the past year while working there, and really hated leaving some of the best co-workers I've ever had to opportunity to work with in my life. Wage is decent and bonuses actually attainable. Overall great place to gain essential financial experience.

Unfortunately, the concept of a "career ladder" is non-existent for this company. Sure, there are managers for both the call center and administrative sectors, but growth into one of these positions is extremely slow. Most of those in management positions have been with the company for upwards 8 to 20+ years, and I don't see any of them getting ready to retire anytime soon.
