I will speak on this company under former CTO. Under him the I.T department was very cutting edge and I feel a lot of people did not appreciate this till 1) They moved on to other companies and soon realized how behind a lot of companies were in comparison. 2) New Non-technical CTO took over and they realized how the department was now moving backwards to "how things were, cause they were cheaper then". Yes no one is perfect and the Department had issues as well but speaking strictly on the technology and exposure to cutting edge technology and exciting and challenging projects, then it was the best company I worked for.

Under new CTO the I.T department has basically changed from innovative to baby sitting current systems and out sourcing work. Also lots of distrust grew under new CTO in the I.T department because people were basically so mad that certain very very hard working people were getting recognition from old CTO that now they wanted to basically take away projects from these people without any sort of concrete argument or strategy. Like a whole manager who was encouraging you during old CTO was now basically taking away projects from you and ignoring you like they were forced to talk to you. So honestly speaking, the management acted to childish when old CTO left that a bunch of us resigned, it was like an exodus. Also lack of integrity on I.T management again on certain issues regarding foreigners and paperwork. One of the company's values is integrity and personally when I saw lack of this from my I.T management immediately under new CTO I was left with no choice by to resign. I was ashamed to be part of such a team and I wanted nothing to do with it.

I like my coworkers and my GM is a good .

The business model and lean staffing is simply unsustainable. Entry level pay, part time, little training, no commissions. Fastenal is focused on the sale rather than the customer. The wing it mentatility leaves customer service lacking. It's a roll coaster of putting one fire out after the other. They sale the position during the interview process but after your in there's empty promises with no real timelines for when the advancement is coming. Upper management seems out of touch with the day to day business. If you ask for help they simply say you have a good schedule. It's extremely disappointing that it has turned out this way because I was excited about the prospect of becoming an Account manager.
