Working at Driptech reminded me of the era of the Colonial empire. At Driptech Career opportunities only exists for the 'White' race. Compensation & Benefits only remain for the 'White' race. Work/Life balance only exists for the 'White' race. As an Indian & a loyal servant of my country, I had joined this company to make an Impact in rural India.Little had I known that I would be working with Colonists. After volunteering to a pay cut for the larger good, I realized that it was only me & my fellow Indian brothers who had agreed for the same. Indians were asked to travel by busses & stay in low cost locations while their American colleagues flew down to destinations and stayed in expensive hotel accommodations. Unqualified white people are allowed to switch roles & responsibilities. This company lacks transparency. The top management comprised of only Americans do not believe in sharing information, having meaningful discussion with Indian colleagues etc.The management does not believe in giving its Indian employees annual Diwali bonuses.The Company does not offer Holidays on any 'Muslim Indian' festival such as Eid etc. During Christmas period the Senior Management is on leave but expects its Indian employees to put in long hours.

We currently have 106 individuals on payroll and another 15 contractors. Of these, 3 identify themselves as "white". Our four non-Indian team members have all given up opportunities to earn double or triple what they do at Driptech, because they believe in our mission. A year ago, our senior management team (at that time comprised of 4 Americans and 3 Indians) took a temporary paycut during a lean season. We have not asked anyone else on the team to do so at any time. ---------- In terms of work-life balance, we all work hard. I am regularly one of the last people leaving the office in the evening, and regularly work over weekends. As do many of my teammates. We believe in our mission and are working hard to make the world a better place.------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are happy to provide a copy of our travel policy to anyone considering joining Driptech. All senior team members, including the CEO, Directors, Heads of Depts, Regional Sales Managers, and Senior Managers are in the same travel band, which currently includes 4 Americans and 6 Indians. We regularly review our travel policy to balance cost vs productivity and vs other companies in the agriculture industry. Suggested improvements are welcome. -------------------------------------------- In terms of transparency, we meet once a month with all managers in our India office - 2 Americans and 11 Indians - to review our full financial results, the same presentation we send to our Board. We also have a monthly company-wide meeting for all staff in Pune to discuss operational updates. ---------------------- With respect to bonuses, everyone has variable compensation in addition to their fixed compensation, which is assessed and paid based on performance at least semiannually. It is not linked to Diwali or any other holiday. ----------------------- With respect to holidays, our head of HR puts together a list of holidays that he believes the team would value the most. We offer 12 paid holidays per year. This does not include the full set of Muslim, Hindu, Christian or other religious or cultural holidays. There are too many of them for that to be possible. Our office was closed for Id-E-Milad in January this year.----------------------------------------- Both our Indian and American team members frequently take additional leave at Christmas. Any additional days off come out of the individual's leave balance. I joined Driptech with three reasons; 1) practice my engineering skill, 2) apply Design Thinking/ Lean Startup process to solve real-world problems, and 3) learn more about social entrepreneurship. I got them all while I was at the company. On top of that, being in startup environment, I got to do many different things, which to me, it's a really valuable experience. Seeing Driptech growing from a single-digit number of employees to renting out a huge facility in India, it's unbelievable. Driptech has gone through several phases. But I'm sure its mission/vision hasn't changed.

At a high level, Driptech's business model is really challenging. Economy of scale is key, for profitability and social impact. In order to scale to that level, it needs tremendous resources. At the same time, if the Mother Nature isn't on its side, that's going to be rough. (Driptech mainly sells drip tapes which are generally used in dry season only.) To add more complexity, at a startup, there's no existing process/system. Employees need to learn and build it, which could be frustrating/confusing sometimes. That said, it's not a generic company that someone can just clock-in, clock-out and wait to climb up a corporate ladder.

Thanks for the feedback. We have seen our product dramatically change lives of farmers across the world, and we thank you and our other team members for their contribution to that. All of our team members have great opportunities to learn and have much more independence than they would normally have at a larger company. We have worked to dramatically improve transparency in the past year. Please do continue to share ideas on further improvements there.

Dear All Job seekers, My decision to join Driptech has been one of the best and honest move in my career path to be working in Agriculture sector. The exposure and experience I gained with Driptech has further deepened my love and passion to work in the Agri sector and start-ups. I learn many things like persistence in work, proactively involve in problem solving and became an good source of all information top any team members, taking an complete ownership of given task and be responsible for it. In Driptech, you will find completely encouraging, forward thinking and friendly environment with amazing co-workers to support and encourage you. I have seen Driptech grow and evolve in the last two years and I should say I am lucky to have witness and been part of this growth phase and I wish I would have really like to be a part of Driptech's journey forward and contribute more.

In an efforts to prevent extra costs being passed onto the consumer, company hangs onto unreliable and costly source of raw material suppliers and not encouraging company to launch any new variants. Need to avoid excessive spending on unnecessary overheads, which increases the company burden unnecessarily.
