Pros

Regular Paycheck. Very rarely get extra hours, but when do it’s nice.

Kontras

You get a week of PTO, good luck actually taking it. They have terrible store conditions and recruit people on a fantasy of possible huge bonuses. Reality is you won’t get those bonuses because the stores and company is broken. If you lose managers for any reason as the salary manager you have to pick up the shifts. If a closing cashier calls out, which happens all the time you will have to do open to close to cover. During my time was able to completely fix the store and back room 4 times yet each time corporate destroyed it with big trucks that weren’t needed. Had cases in the back room that were over 4 years old. This company has terrible work/life balance for store managers and expects you to be in the store 24/7 or else your job, managers job, and even cashiers job will be threatened on a consistent basis. There’s a reason company has such high turnover across entire company. If you do take a position you’ll be really motivated to fix it when you get started working 80 hours a week til it’s done, but after you do get it where you want it’ll get destroyed and have to start all over. The company has lost some really good people recently and it’s only going to get worse.

Pros

Working at Dollar Tree provided valuable hands-on leadership experience across every aspect of retail operations. I strengthened my skills in inventory management, merchandising, freight planning, staffing, customer service, compliance, and operational execution. The fast-paced environment challenged me to think quickly, prioritize effectively, and develop my team while delivering results. The relationships I built with my associates and customers were by far the most rewarding part of the job.

Kontras

The workload often exceeded the labor hours provided, making it challenging to consistently meet operational expectations. Store managers were frequently expected to handle multiple responsibilities while working with lean staffing levels. Facility and equipment issues sometimes took longer than expected to resolve, and support from upper management could be inconsistent. While the job offered valuable experience, maintaining work-life balance could be difficult during peak freight and seasonal periods.
