Pros
The project opportunities that I was presented were very important to the company, not just busy work. Respect is a live thing, at least among the employees I worked with. The people are very inteligent and always ready and willing to help you if you need information. Production employees are very nice, if you can prove that you look out for them and you are friendly. Senior management is committed, at least in word, to implementing continuous improvement and lean initiatives, something I was able to jump on and ride as a good portion of my work load. Nice facilities are newly renovated.
Kontras
The connection between design and manufacturing engineering is not there. Engineers work together, but not really as teams. Management seemingly does not see this. The company is fractured in that the facility is a fusion of two production facilites with little mixing. Many production management concepts are not shared across the same facility, an area of great potential. Some operations are black-holes because of process variation, but most are well established. The office layout is not very condusive to teamwork, but rather you have privacy and quiet. Production planning is also fragmented, though things tend to function without much trouble.
