*Commissions are great! Definitely negotiate for stronger base pay if you can. Absolute minimum before commissions should be $20-$21 per hour with the work that is expected. One leasing agent revealed she made $24 with her experience and she was only part-time. *Construction delays seemed to be very prevalent, but that's to be expected with a new build. Be prepared to work with them and form a positive relationship. I ended up extending some of my move-in dates a little further out, but I ended up getting all of my commissions. You must be at the company at the time of your move-ins to receive the pay for them, so plan accordingly!

The company website boats that their employees have a great work-life balance, but that wasn't my honest experience. For those who are new to the company, they base their work week schedule on their payroll schedule. The week starts on Friday and ends on the following Saturday. This means that they can block your weeks together without "technically" working you overtime. This resulted in 7-14 days of working in a row, which is not sustainable for anyone. Solutions like temps or floating leasing agents were suggested, but not provided. The expectation was to push forward and produce the same results with very little support. From my perspective there seemed to be a lot of micromanagement and some favoritism. The clothing allowance was nice, but issues with the leasing agents' appearances were emphasized with little guidance about what the actual issue was. In the future, I will look for organizations that emphasize transparency, fairness, and a healthy work-life balance! I encourage others reading this review to do the same. If you choose to work here, be very firm with your work-life boundaries and get maximum pay!

As you can see from the many posts on our Glassdoor site, your experience differs greatly from most of our teams' experiences. If at any time in an employee's time with us the experience isn't what is expected, there are many people you can go to who will listen and address your concerns. We are a very flat organization and we do listen, as we do care. To address your concern regarding pay, many factors go into what someone's hourly rate will be, for your example, part-time employees do not get benefits, weekend hours, or PTO, so naturally their hourly rate might be a bit higher. As for construction delays, yes, that is our business and it does happen. I am glad you worked through the delays and saved your leases. Most companies have a policy of not paying out leases for those who have not moved in, as the prospect could cancel after an employee leaves. Creating positive relationships and planning are excellent skills in any work environment, but certainly, in construction, they do go a long way to keep things moving civilly. As for schedules, if an employee wants a four-day weekend, they may request a schedule that includes working several days straight, but if the employee prefers, they can use PTO or go without pay rather than request an extended schedule. We are very flexible and accommodating on employees' schedules, as we know there are always things that come up. We never mandate an employee's schedule. Also, we ask employees if they would like to work overtime before we bring in temps, as we would rather have someone working the extra time who already knows the property, rather than a temp. We are always open to suggestions, but we put our employees first. Your comments about micro-managing, but not giving enough guidance on uniforms are confusing and contradicting. We have a uniform policy and the Regional Manager confirms that the proper pieces are selected for the season. We are a very transparent organization. Again, the comments you have made about the health of the organization, and overall fairness are inconsistent with our values and as you can see here on Glassdoor, do not align with others' opinions. If there was employee turnover on your team, perhaps we should look more closely at hiring employees who understand the intensity of a lease-up and the expectations coming into it. We do pay great commissions, but there is much work to do on a brand-new property. Many leasing consultants would jump at the opportunity to work on one. Regardless, we wish you all the best in your future and hope you find the perfect match in an employer. We appreciate your feedback.

I have truly enjoyed my experience working for Davis Development. The company culture is one of the biggest reasons I am proud to be part of the team. Employees are treated with respect, appreciation, and genuine care. It's refreshing to work for a company where you don't feel like just another number, but rather a valued member of the organization whose contributions are recognized. They care about your family too, my kids love they have received birthday cards. The people throughout the company are supportive, collaborative, and invested in each other's success. Upper management is approachable, understanding, and always willing to listen to concerns, discuss ideas, and work through challenges together. Their open-door approach creates an environment where employees feel heard and empowered to make a difference. Davis Development also takes pride in delivering a quality product while maintaining a strong focus on its people. Only true con is the insurance change but everyone has been so helpful to navigate the issues. Other than that maybe just some more training in the beginning stages.

Working for Davis Family has been an incredible experience. It truly is a great company to work for—they treat their employees like family, creating a positive and supportive environment every day.
