Dataworks Development is one of the first places I worked and it was a great experience. I spent nearly six years there learning about data/sample management applications in the biotech and research fields. The culture suited my personality and I was sad to leave when the time came. Small company that knows its customers needs and always seeks to put them first. As an employee I felt I had opportunities to grow professionally and because the company was small and nimble it afforded some more flexibility in work-life balance I haven’t found at larger companies since leaving. Pros -Relaxed and fun culture -Challenging work - Leadership is very understanding and empathetic to their employees needs - Opportunities to grow (option to cross-train in different departments if desired)

Working for a small company it can be unstructured and lack some of the safety-net benefits provided by a bigger company. It’s more or less up to the person if pros outweigh the cons of the type of company and culture you’re looking for or vice versa.

I came here to start a new career in sales after moving to the Seattle area, it felt like I was taking a big risk at first, as I was unsure if I would find success, but all of my expectations have been exceeded and I have grown my skills and income more than I thought I would. They have been receptive to my ideas and allow me to implement them. I've been allowed to work independently but still receive great guidance, and most importantly I'm trusted to do my job well. After less than a year I received a promotion to take on new leads in my sales territory and I'm thrilled about the new opportunity and the continued growth it will bring. Also this is a growing industry with the money being pumped into biotech and scientific research, and the product we offer is in a unique position to capture a growing share of the market.

It is a very small company with a lot of family working close together, which could be a con for some people. I was unsure of what to make of that at first but I've found that the family members are really open, kind, and accepting people and will welcome you with open arms and are also very good at what they do.
