Pros
The company is attacking the market at the right time - enabling people who utilize multiple SaaS services, common these days, to aggregate data and make data-driven decisions with the help of smart visualizations and machine learning. While the company already has over 10K users and growing by triple digit users each week, the team is still very small - engineering team of 4, with total company size of about 12 - but it’s a crackteam of very smart people working there. Many people with prior successful careers here that have previous led multiple successful acquisitions, and multiple people from schools like Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, Princeton, and Urbana Champaign makes a pretty tight and efficient team. Hours aren’t too crazy - it’s not 9-5, but definitely not the 16 hour 80 hour week craziness that you hear horror stories about at some companies in the area. Company hired two execs this year to really start growing each department to accelerate and realize some ambitious goals, and that’s a good thing because while the current growth is impressive, it’s hard to imagine what the growth would be once even half of some of the vision that the company has for the product is executed. Very looking forward to the next phase of its growth. Company is very transparent at it's current stage - board meeting slides are shared, everyone knows what the numbers look like, and everyone goes out to lunch together every Friday - from the CEO all the way to newest engineers.
Kontras
Like the other reviewer said, benefits are ‘sufficient’. Sure, there’s the medical, dental, vision, plus 24 hour fitness gym membership & 27" Thunderbolt displays, but not 401k, commuter benefits, or any of the exotic things you may hear about at some companies. I would say the pay is “market-ish”, which is fine since I wouldn’t be coming to a pre-Series A startup if I wanted pay that was above market. Need more people. To execute on some of the pretty exciting vision the company has, it needs more people. Having just a few more engineers would probably double the output and therefore accelerate the company getting there. Pretty picky on hiring top talent only, which is a good thing, but takes time. On the other hand, each person here plays a pretty big role in the company - and also the future shape of the company. Location is both a blessing and a curse - it's right between CalTrain station and Montgomery BART station, so you could commute by either... but it means it's not quite 2-3 minutes from them... more like a 10 minute walk from either. The office is a pretty decent sized space, but somehow didn't quite design the sound proofing right. Sometimes conversations echo a lot.
