Pros

Joined a totally new team/new manager during the pandemic, & it's been a great experience. • Managers and Directors are very hands on in a good way, meaning that they really are in the trenches with reps throughout deal cycles-- a great asset for someone who is new to selling in the devops/engineering industry & is looking to learn from more experienced salespeople • Onboard training was great from day one despite being remote, and I can very much look back on my time here thus far and see how much me and my teammates have learned since starting • Budget for team events, monthly & quarterly spiffs with desirable prizes • Energetic sales leadership • Transparent & open communication with full chain of leadership, all the way up to the Global VP of Sales which is refreshing & appreciated • Coming from a late stage start-up, the processes are so much more defined and proven to work which I was looking forward to • Product is spectacular, as are the Sales Engineers-- & continuous product trainings • Benefits are also great

• Can be a little bit bro-y sometimes, but management has voiced that they're actively working on this • quota ramp is 5 months in total, but it seems to take about 10-12 months to be/feel truly ramped & to have enough pipeline to sustain a quota. If you're looking to immediately start making good money after a few months, this isn't for you

Pros

Datadog has a strong product, smart coworkers, and a fast paced environment that teaches you a lot quickly. I learned a tremendous amount about observability, technical discovery, outbound prospecting, and how modern engineering organizations operate. The company has also gives reps exposure to large accounts and technical conversations early in their careers.

Kontras

The ramp for newer AEs can feel steep, especially in a hgihly competitive outbound environment. Success often depends on timing, territory, pipeline momentum, and consistent coaching. There can also be a significant pressure tied to activity metrics and pipeline generations, which may be difficult for reps still developing confidence and process consistency.
