Pros

Great coworkers and store management - everybody usually tries to pull together to help each other. Most of the time the management is understanding of the environment and the limitations with which we had to work with. Excellent Insurance and retirement Benefits (for full timers) and Employee Discount on products that are of high quality.

Kontras

Within the store, work levels are high - salary budgets are set low by the District Management offices. Maybe for his max bonus benefit? Regardless it results in too many tasks and projects needing to be done by too few people and in too little time. Obviously this can often lead to less than perfect execution of a given project. Pressured managers trickle down to a pressured and stressful work environment. It often seems that senior management is way out of touch with what it takes to work on a sales floor. Store management positions are filled by outside of the company employees. So once you have hit a Lead position - forget about moving higher with this company. (I have heard that this is a specific quirk of the particular DM but have no confirmation of that). Bascically if you are on the retail side you can forget about moving into a salaried position in either the corporate level or management level.

Pros

- Unlimited PTO with 401k match is awesome

Kontras

- Performance expectations were often unclear or inconsistently communicated, Feedback was reactive instead of timely and actionable. - Leadership quality varied dramatically by manager, with limited coaching or mentorship. - Constant shifting priorities without adjusting expectations or workload. - Psychological safety was lacking, Honest communication feel risky. - Leadership messaging around culture didn't match day-to-day reality. - Process was often valued more than impact or results. - Compensation well below market, w/little flexibility during negotiations. - I felt excluded from key conversations and opportunities that were important to my success.
