If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. That is what I normally say, but not this time. I have been in the insurance restoration industry for around 5 years. Most of those 5 years were spent estimating and project managing. In my experience I have been involved with the estimate review process when Contractor Connection reviewed my repair or mitigation estimates. Over the years I became more familiar with them until I finally applied for an Estimate Reviewer III (work from home) position at Crawford Contractor Connection. It was not long before human resources was in touch with me and started giving me instruction via email on what the next steps were. Several email exchanges took place between me and HR. After about a week, I was offered a phone interview with the immediate supervisor for one of the estimate review teams and the team manager for the "division". The phone interview went well. The questions I asked were answered in detail. No promises were made (which I like) and the whole interview became more of a conversation between friends rather than me trying to convince them why I am a good fit for this amazing opportunity to work from home. After the phone interview was over, I felt like I already had the job. I did not feel that way because of anything the manager and supervisor said, it was because the interview went really well. The application process continued after the phone interview. It seemed like forever before the background company did what they needed to do in order to move the hiring process along. Finally, after what seemed like ages, I was scheduled for another phone conversation with the same 2 guys I had my interview with. THEY OFFERED ME A JOB! I was happy. They told me what they were going to compensate me for working from home and I had to think about it for a moment....when I say "moment" I mean literally, a moment, then I said yes. I put my 2 week notice in and celebrated with my family. I have now been an employee for 3 months, just got off probation. I am very impressed with how structured this company is and how involved my managers and team mates are from my home office. I am always nervous starting a new position, but that quickly went away after I was hired. The managers make it easy to learn. My team mates are a phone call away and if I ask them a question, they are happy to provide an answer. WORK LIFE BALANCE is appropriate. BENEFITS and PAY are second to none. EMPOWERING work environment. TIME OFF is appropriate. SUPPLIES PROVIDED; company provided computer and accessories (does not include home office chair or desk). INTERNAL HIRING OPPORTUNITIES ALL THE TIME!! Also, I have already referred my old co-worker for a remote position. Contractor connection gives you money to get people hired. There are limitations of course.

The hiring process takes too long in my opinion and overtime is limited, but reasonably appropriate.

Pros

Teams and individuals within the department are second to none. Supervisors, as a whole have experience and care about their team and success. The job as listed is great for an individual with restoration experience.

Kontras

Work load is never what is promised. Constant change in procedure. Decisions are made without any real thought to the impact on employees. Metrics mentioned during hiring are never a factor unless it's to criticize. Top quality reviewers are given complex clients with higher volume without additional pay. Exremely high turn over. Low pay/raises compared to competitors. Former executive staff member blatantly stated "If you don't like the pay, go somewhere else". RESTORE values are constantly mentioned to all staff along with Crawford Cares. It's true that they care. They care about the Carriers, employees, not so much. If you are a "go getter" don't expect results from this company. Volunteer efforts aren't acknowledged nor is extra work. If you show capability above expectations it will be expected going forward with no appreciation.
