Pros

Diversity. Inclusion. Open Communication. Genuine good feelings and Positivity around every corner. Great Salary and BENEFITS (even agents are eligible for health insurance)!!! Honest engagement in the exchange of ideas and remedies is unmatched. This is a true "team work" environment. We all root for one another and it comes from a genuine place - no ego, no hidden agenda. LEADERSHIP is top-notch! In order to create such a place as this "it" has to start at the top and with Compass it shows in every area of the company. Compass is not afraid to try something new and different and even if it doesn't work it's viewed as an opportunity in which WE can learn and grow. Stepping away from Traditional real estate is truly 'disruptive' and refreshing - it's what the industry really needs. I can't say enough about finally "finding my place in the world" except to say that I am grateful for Compass.

Not as structured as you would think, but, that's the nature of a start up. It's actually not a "con", per se, as this type of environment allows for the free flow of ideas, exchanges and the incorporation of various methodologies in attaining a common shared goal.

Pros

People are smart. Very much a “move fast and break things” culture which can be refreshing compared to bureaucracy-heavy corporate life. I don’t agree with their values (if they have any) but what they’re doing is unquestionably working - business outlook is strong.

Kontras

Leadership will tell you there’s no ego or self-interest involved in their strategy - that is untrue. It’s an extremely heliocentric culture around the CEO. A lot of the work is based around what people they're guessing he’ll like, but there’s no alignment at the outset and something you worked on for weeks/months will be trashed after one look from him. Their mission is ostensibly about empowering agents but they are solving a problem that pretty much no one was complaining about before they started, and which just so happens to work highly in their favor in terms of market share. It’s just business but very disingenuous- don’t believe the hype that it’s altruistic somehow. Also the CEO loves to share his sob story about his single mother upbringing, but simultaneously enacts some of the most anti-parent policies you could think of.
