Pros
Bagels on Fridays, free snacks (cashews and almonds, coffee, tea) The managers are all real kind and approachable. A few have been in our position so are more understanding if a mistake happens. Free supervision Friendly co workers; probably the main reason I have stayed so long They hired more people so the call volume is more manageable. You get raises every 6 months for the first 2 years you're there They give seniored people different tasks so you're not on the phone all day Activities like chili cook off, secret Santa and cubicle decorations A few people in management were let go who were the reasons a lot of employees were dropping like flies. The work environment is a lot less tense.
Kontras
They did away with fruit as an alternative, not that that was any good anyway but for those that prefer low carb, it was an option. This job can be stressful. They won't say this up front but it's a call center and you're the first person people reach, which means you're also the person that other departments tend to blame when something goes wrong. At my one year review my raise was a pitiful 3%, which came to $900 more a year. They have since implemented raises but I can't believe I worked that long for such little pay. One call will be someone asking a legal question, the next will be someone that thought about shooting themself that day and the next call will be someone wanting help planning a vacation. The constant anxiety of what call you're going to get next was sometimes too much. Since you're just a number, you're not really valued and rarely given positive feedback, which goes a long way in this job.
