Pros

The CEO knows how to lay people off. Killed a product that was the only money maker by not investing in it. Then sold it. Got a bunch of money, then laid off a bunch of people at the end of 2022. Then because there are no BIG sales coming in laid more off this week (June 2023).

Kontras

I made it through 2 rounds of layoffs before this one. Has a three floor space in MPLS that is hardly used by anyone and locked into for another 5 years. Code42 started dying when the CEO came on board. Somebody just take it out back and shoot it.

Pros

Work / life balance was great in that we only had to endure 2 days in the office.

Kontras

Ugh, where do I even begin with this place? Let me tell you, being shown the door at Code42 was less of a professional departure and more of a public execution. They literally gathered everyone in the office just so those of us being laid off could do the "walk of shame" past all our soon-to-be-ex-colleagues. Real classy move. And let's not pretend this was some unforeseen tragedy. The writing has been on the wall for ages. No profits for the past two years? Surprise, surprise, no bonuses either. You'd think that kind of financial reality would breed some humility in leadership, but nope. They seemed almost gleeful about the stress and uncertainty they were causing with these surprise layoffs. Seriously, the smiles on some of their faces were unsettling. The culture there? Don't even get me started. "Supportive" and "warm" are not words I would ever associate with that place. It was a constant battle, every person for themselves, scrambling to stay afloat in a sea of vague responsibilities. My actual work was a tangled mess of confusing duties that seemed to change on a whim. Oh, and the cherry on top of this whole dumpster fire? Layoffs every six months! You could practically set your watch by the next round of departures. It created this constant undercurrent of fear and instability. Honestly, if you're looking for a stable, supportive, and well-managed company, steer clear of Code42. You'll save yourself a lot of stress and avoid the lovely experience of the corporate "walk of shame." Trust me on this one.
