Reaktion von Checkout.com
6yDear colleague,
Thank you for your review.
After receiving your comments I met with several of our technical leads to ensure we could reply with a comprehensive answer.
In response to your frustrations around your responsibilities whilst at Checkout.com, we do expect our software engineers to make active contributions to the products they are developing. In fact, some of our best product initiatives come from our engineers.
We would expect any software engineer to test and validate their code through automated testing and we have Devops engineers to help with these systems. Documentation is an essential tool in contributing to a collaborative effort between engineering / product and other teams. On occasion engineers may take turns in running a stand-up, we feel this gives them a sense of ownership and pride in what they and their team are building, along with developing leadership skills.
When it comes to developing our managers, in the past few months we have launched a new, tailored leadership programme to help even our most experienced managers to continue improving. We have also introduced upward-manager reviews into our annual review process, giving us a truly 360 degree feedback system.
Ultimately, creating a workplace in which all of our team members feel they are able to thrive and do their best work is of fundamental importance to us, so we take your words very seriously.
We are sorry about your experience and would welcome the opportunity for an open and honest discussion if you are open to it.
Best wishes,
Louis
