Pros

If you enjoy your soul sucked out of you and being in a state of constant anxiety caused by bullying and micromanaging - then we have a job for you! If this isn't you, then fear not! You might be able to get yourself in the special boys club. This is a group of the elite, the untouchables, who can say and do anything they want. Don't worry about getting reported when you overstep boundaries; in this group, it will just be shrugged off.

Kontras

The values are fundamentally flawed - the special boys club love preaching them, but when push comes to shove it's all a lie. The values and what they mean are: Aspire: Anything can be built Excel: No room for approximation Unite: We are greater together What does this really mean, when you're the underdog? Aspire: Yes anything can be built, but it must be exactly the way they want it and how they want it - even if their way is insane. It's an extra opportunity for them to belittle and undermine you. Excel: No room for approximation? Basically, don't make any errors or mistakes - unless you want grudges held against you for eternity. Unite: They will offer to help you when they're in the presence of the boys club, but when you actually ask suddenly they're too good for that. To be frank, you're only 'united' if you're in the boys club. Another huge issue is micromanaging within the company. They will change and alter everything you do, just because they can - I feel like they enjoy the superiority and ego boost they get from this. It's especially hard when you have several people micromanaging you - some that are not even your manager and are frankly way out of line; hence the title "Anxiety". It has even gotten to the point where you can't even thank a colleague without your post being corrected! - it's a thank you, are you kidding? When will the see how ridiculous that is? Whilst there's so many more; the last important con to mention is the abundance of prejudice. It doesn't matter how good you are, your experience, or anything a company should priorities. If they don't like you or your personality, they'll make you aware by how they treat you compared to others. It seems like it's their mission to find a fault in everything. So join checkout, and be prepared to be belittled, bullied, and be in a constant state of anxiety/depression.

Hello, I’d like to thank you for sharing your thoughts. I can tell from your tone that these issues have caused you some distress and for that I am sorry. We do take your comments seriously and so I would like to take the opportunity to personally respond to you. To your point on stress and anxiety, I am sorry that you feel like this. In the People Team have worked hard to place wellbeing at the centre of life at Checkout.com. For example, we have two certified mental health first aiders in the office, to provide support. Alongside this, we have also partnered with an employee assistance programme provider, who offer year-round telephone counselling services. As a business, we’re dedicated to creating an environment where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical. I can’t go into details, but we have been able to support several of your colleagues work through difficulties, by offering a range of internal counselling, financial support, Flexi-time arrangements etc. Employee wellbeing is of a top priority. I’m sorry that we haven’t been able to support you in this instance, but should you wish to discuss any of these services please do reach out to a member of the people team for a confidential chat. On empowerment and management. As a young, fast-growing international business, we have invested lots of time and effort into development programmes to help ensure that managers and employees are able to bring their best selves to work every day. This includes investment in the infrastructure & systems which enables a global workforce to work remotely. The same systems enable us to offer flexible work times with a general rule of thumb of being “available” during your region’s work hours. We are all here to work together and be our best, whether it’s with flexible hours or working from home/remotely. Lastly, to speak on your thoughts of favouritism. We’ve also worked hard to implement programmes which showcase and reward everyday examples of work aligned to our core values - as seen in our Hero Awards. We also reward dedicated and effective work, with over 25% of people receiving promotion throughout the year. We have a robust reward programme to reward people on merit, which is not only a company goal but also a value deeply rooted in our CEO’s beliefs, who has always put people first. We are dedicated to increasing diversity throughout all aspects of the business. Currently, we have a 66%M, 33%F split in our senior management team. Now, whilst this is above the technology industry average, we have and continue to be committed to achieving a greater level of diversity at all levels of Checkout.com. If you would like to discuss any of these points in any detail, please feel free to get in touch with me or any of the people team. Kindest regards, Louis Jauvin - Head of People

Pros

Good salary, thats about it

Kontras

Toxic work culture, they want you to work from 6 am to 9pm. If you do not speak french or are not french you will feel like an outsider. Favoritism is big here, manager have their favorites and will feed them inbounds. Very hard to get approval to go to conferences, and there is no ROI, longer reps hold on to bigger name merchants for years even though they are not having any impact, and no one does anything about it.
