I'm a new starter and tried to negotiate my salary to start with as it's below market benchmark for the same role. Basically you get your base salary (that is not negotiable) plus a budget to pay for your benefits. I was told that whatever is left after your selection is paid back to you.
Only problem is, you have no budget. The money in your reward package only cover pension and mandatory items that are really below average:
- Medical is on "you pay first, we'll refund later, maybe" and there is no history disregard
- Life assurance only covers 2x
- Income protection is only 50%
ALL THE REST IS AT YOUR EXPENSE (dental, gym discount, tastecard, increased life assurance, increased income protection, heatsh screening or cashback).
Another important point to highlight is flexibility.
It was never mentioned to me at any interview stage that there was a requirement to travel, all talk was about being hybrid (remote and London based office).
As soon as I started I was told (not asked, but told), I now need to travel at least 2 days a week to the client site which is 3.5h away from my home.
Not the future you want clearly.
Just leaving 2 stars for now because there is still hope things might change
