Very supportive and collegial environment. Most employees seem to enjoy their jobs and the University, and actively work to ensure that others do as well.

Low pay for faculty compared to comparable universities in other states. Very large and sometimes bureaucratic governance. Most faculty and staff are unionized, resulting in little opportunity for merit pay or bonuses, one-size-fits-all compensation structures, and very long and drawn out salary and benefits negotiations (often takes several years of negotiations for each raise).
