Pros
New hire orientation and training opportunity
Kontras
- Lack of opportunity for advancement unless you are connected - The work was very intensive requiring extensive travel and wear and tear on employee vehicles. I suffered two serious auto accidents in less than two years at this job - The work was more clerical in nature and adds nothing to professional development of the educated and highly skilled staff - When a position opened up in the CA location for which I was very qualified, I expressed an interest and was approved. However, I decided to take a pass when I was informed by the corporate office in VA that for accepting to relocate to CA leaving my family behind for extended periods of time, I was going to keep the same miserable pay I had in Baltimore where I live. I subsequently resigned amicably (with the required 2-week written notice). The company retaliated against me by giving potential employers negative reference checks which destroyed my chances of finding new work with a Masters Degree, marketable skills and more than 15 years of steady work experience for 8 months until a couple of friends who were suspicious of my sudden prolonged unemployment saga contacted CGI for reference checks and then shared what they received with me. This is still a nightmare I'm trying to overcome even as I'm now gainfully employed with a six-figure salary. When confronted with the proof, they simply claimed that it was an innocent mistake that happened over and over again and came very close to destroying my professional career and especially, the welfare of my family. To date, they have never reached out to me personally to show any form of remorse and have not offered any form of financial restitution for what they did to me
