Bytecode seems to have always struggled with growth. The company seems like in its earlier days it was probably a lot of fun to work for. In reality it created an OG crew who can practically have immunity and treat anyone as they desire. I have been on the receiving end of this many times. The projects themselves are hit or miss but not the end of the world. The worst part is arguably the turnover. It’s not uncommon to join the daily meeting to hear someone is no longer with the company, often times multiple people. Consistently we’re told about our low turnover but in the past 1-2 years it has increased significantly. You’re told if you have any questions to talk to your advisor who will tell you they can’t really share much. It’s created a very uneasy feeling coming to work everyday wondering if you’ll be next. I’ve seen incredible talent get canned, while OG talent that’s turned mediocre continues to thrive. There’s also a big gap in terms of delivery managers. Some are amazing, some will throw you under the bus in front but of a client. Overall it’s an environment you can’t trust, just get your work done and keep your head down.
