Advancement is slow in the junior scientific positions (min 2 years), not meritocratic but based on seniority, many senior leadership come here when they are ready to stop advancing, IT is awful - very advanced in science, limited by IT, HR has antiquated policies that make top talent leave rather than develop internally, job titles are meaningless - range for someone with 2-4 years experience could go from entry level on the science side to manager in a commercial area (get this - pay ranges are the same)
